STOP LOOKING FOR YOUR SICKNESS, LOOK FOR YOUR HEALING
KEY SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 4:17–24
«“Who against hope believed in hope…” — Romans 4:18 (KJV)»
“WHATEVER YOU GIVE ATTENTION TO GROWS.”
There is a great danger in constantly looking at the wrong thing.
What you continually give your attention to begins to occupy your thoughts, your emotions, your conversations, and eventually your expectations. Whatever you give attention to grows in your consciousness.
If you continually look at your sickness, you may become more conscious of the sickness than you are of God’s healing power. If you continually look at your limitations, you may become more conscious of what you cannot do than what God can do. If you continually rehearse negative reports, you may begin to lose sight of the report of the Lord.
Stop looking for your sickness. Look for your healing!
This does not mean pretending that a physical symptom does not exist or refusing appropriate medical care. It means refusing to make the symptom your focus, your identity, or the final authority over your life. Your condition may be real, but it does not have to become the center of your attention.
STOP LOOKING AT THE WRONG THINGS
Sometimes, we spend so much time examining what is wrong that we fail to recognize what God is doing right.
We look at the pain.
We look at the symptoms.
We look at the diagnosis.
We look at the delay.
We look at the disappointment.
We look at the weakness.
We look at yesterday’s failure.
And the more we look, the bigger those things become in our minds.
Stop looking at the wrong things!
The wrong things will make you sad. The wrong things will drain your joy. The wrong things will make you question what God has said about you.
There are people who wake up looking for what is wrong with their bodies. They check this, examine that, search for symptoms, compare themselves with others, and constantly talk about their condition.
But today, change your focus.
Look for healing. Look for restoration. Look for strength. Look for God’s goodness. Look for the testimony. Look for the evidence of God’s faithfulness.
Train your heart to look in the direction of God’s Word.
“STOP LOOKING FOR WHAT IS NOT LOOKING FOR YOU”
Often times, we are looking for what is not looking for us.
We search for problems. We search for bad news. We search for reasons to be afraid. We search for symptoms. We search for evidence that things will not work.
But faith teaches us to look beyond what is presently visible.
Abraham is a powerful example in Romans 4. His circumstances gave him every reason to doubt, yet Scripture says that he “considered not his own body now dead” but remained strong in faith, giving glory to God.
Abraham did not deny his physical reality. He simply refused to allow his physical reality to become greater than God’s promise.
That is faith!
Faith does not deny reality; faith recognizes that God’s Word is greater than the reality confronting you.
“STOP CALLING IT WHAT GOD DID NOT CALL IT”
Sometimes, we give things names that God never gave them.
We say:
“This is how my life will always be.”
“Nothing good can happen to me.”
“I will always be sick.”
“Nothing ever works for me.”
“My family is cursed.”
“I can never rise above this situation.”
Be careful with your words.
Stop calling what is there a permanent name.
Your present situation is not necessarily your final destination.
There may be a sickness in your body, but you are not your sickness.
There may be a difficult season, but you are not your difficulty.
There may be a delay, but you are not your delay.
There may be a battle, but you are not defeated.
Don’t allow a temporary condition to become a permanent identity.
“YOUR MOUTH HAS A ROLE TO PLAY”
Romans 4:17 reveals something powerful about God: He is the One “who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”
God speaks life into dead situations.
And as His children, we must learn to align our words with His Word.
Stop using your mouth to magnify the problem. Use your mouth to magnify God.
Don’t wake up and announce everything the enemy is doing before you announce what God has said.
Don’t spend ten minutes talking about your symptoms and one minute talking about God’s promises.
Give God’s Word a voice!
Speak life.
Speak healing.
Speak strength.
Speak restoration.
Speak peace.
Speak hope.
Speak the promises of God.
Your words do not replace medical treatment, but they can shape what you continually believe, meditate on, and expect. Let your confession agree with God’s Word.
“DON’T GIVE UP ON GOD”
One of the greatest attacks sickness and prolonged challenges can bring is discouragement.
When you have prayed and the situation seems unchanged, you may be tempted to ask:
“Where is God?”
“Why hasn’t it happened yet?”
“Will I ever receive my testimony?”
But hear this:
DON’T GIVE UP ON GOD!
The fact that you have not seen the manifestation yet does not mean that God has abandoned you.
Keep believing.
Keep praying.
Keep trusting.
Keep feeding your spirit with God’s Word.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
There may be a process between the prayer and the manifestation, but don’t allow the process to make you abandon your faith.
“LOOK UNTO JESUS”
Your healing must not become an obsession with your body; your focus must remain on Christ.
The more conscious you become of Jesus, the less room fear has to dominate your heart.
When you look at Jesus, you remember that He is greater than the sickness.
When you look at Jesus, you remember that He is greater than the diagnosis.
When you look at Jesus, you remember that He is greater than the doctor’s report.
When you look at Jesus, you remember that your life is in God’s hands.
Stop looking at the problem and start looking at the Promise.
Stop looking at what is failing and start looking at the One who never fails.
Stop looking for sickness and look for healing.
“LET YOUR MOUTH SPEAK LIFE”
3 John 1:2 says:
«“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”»
God’s desire for His children is not that they live perpetually dominated by fear and sickness.
Therefore, let your words carry faith.
When you wake up, don’t begin by searching for what is wrong.
Begin by thanking God for life.
Begin by declaring His goodness.
Begin by feeding your heart with His Word.
Begin to see yourself through the lens of God’s promises.
What are you looking for?
If you keep looking for sickness, you will become increasingly conscious of sickness.
If you keep looking for reasons to be discouraged, you will find them.
If you keep looking for problems, you will find problems.
But if you deliberately turn your attention toward God, His Word, His promises, His goodness, and His faithfulness, your heart will be strengthened.
CHANGE YOUR FOCUS!
You cannot always control what happens around you, but you can choose what you continually meditate on.
You can choose what you magnify.
You can choose what you allow to dominate your conversation.
You can choose whether fear or faith will have the louder voice in your heart.
So today:
STOP LOOKING FOR YOUR SICKNESS.
LOOK FOR YOUR HEALING.
STOP MAGNIFYING THE PROBLEM.
MAGNIFY GOD.
STOP REHEARSING THE NEGATIVE REPORT.
REHEARSE THE WORD OF GOD.
STOP SPEAKING DEFEAT.
SPEAK LIFE.
STOP GIVING YOUR ATTENTION TO WHAT IS WRONG.
GIVE YOUR ATTENTION TO WHAT GOD HAS SAID.
Your attention is powerful.
Your words are powerful.
Your faith matters.
And above all, God is faithful.
DECLARATION
I will not be dominated by fear.
I will not make sickness my identity.
I will not magnify any symptoms above God’s Word.
I choose to focus on Jesus.
I choose to believe God’s promises.
I choose to speak life.
I choose to walk in faith.
I choose to hope again.
I choose to trust God again.
I will not give up on God!
I will look beyond what I see and hold firmly to what God has spoken.
I am looking for healing.
I am looking for restoration.
I am looking for strength.
I am looking for God’s goodness.
I am looking for my testimony.
I will keep my eyes on Jesus, because what I give attention to grows!
STOP LOOKING FOR YOUR SICKNESS — LOOK FOR YOUR HEALING!
