When will I laugh
There are moments in life when sorrow lingers longer than expected, when tears stain pillows more often than smiles light our faces. In those quiet, aching moments, the heart cries out, “When will I laugh again?” But even in the valley, God is not silent. His Word reminds us that joy is not only promised—it is coming.
1. Joy Comes in the Morning
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5 (NKJV)
No matter how long the night of sorrow lasts, God has already scheduled your morning of laughter. You may feel stuck in a season of silence or sadness, but God is preparing joy to rise like the sun.
Declaration:
I declare that my night season is not forever. The dawn of joy is coming. I will laugh again, and it will be a deep, healing laughter sent by the Lord.
2. God Turns Mourning Into Dancing
“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.” — Psalm 30:11 (NKJV)
God is the great exchanger. He doesn’t just remove sorrow; He replaces it. Laughter will return, not in spite of your pain, but as a testimony of God’s power to redeem it.
Declaration:
I declare that my mourning will be turned into dancing. My dry seasons will bloom again. My laughter will return, more vibrant than before.
3. Sarah Laughed — And So Will You
“And Sarah said, ‘God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.’” — Genesis 21:6 (NKJV)
Sarah waited years for her promise—and when it came, it brought laughter. Maybe you, like Sarah, are wondering if it’s too late, too broken, or too far gone. But when God fulfills His promises, it always ends in joy.
Declaration:
I declare that I will laugh like Sarah. God will fulfill His promises in my life, and my laughter will be a testimony to others.
4. The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength
“Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” — Nehemiah 8:10 (NKJV)
Laughter is not a sign of weakness, but of strength. It’s the evidence that God’s joy is alive within you, sustaining you even when circumstances suggest otherwise.
Declaration:
I declare that God’s joy is rising in me now. It is my strength, my song, and my shield. I choose joy. I choose to laugh again.
5. A Time to Laugh
“To everything there is a season… A time to weep, and a time to laugh.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4 (NKJV)
Just as surely as there has been a time of weeping, your time to laugh is appointed by God. Seasons shift. Hope rises. Laughter returns.
Declaration:
I declare that my time to laugh is here. I have embraced the new season with joy and faith, trusting that God is faithful in every moment.
Final Prayer
Father, You are the God who restores joy. Even when I feel weary, I trust You are working behind the scenes. Let my heart be awakened again with hope. Let my mouth be filled with laughter and my soul with praise. I choose to believe that joy is on the horizon. In Jesus’ name, Amen
