Learn to Trust God
Trusting God and laughter may not seem connected at first, but when we look closely, we find that true, lasting joy—genuine laughter—flows from a heart that rests securely in God’s promises. Laughter, especially the kind born from joy and peace, is one of the fruits of trust.
1. Laughter Begins Where Worry Ends
One of the biggest enemies of laughter is anxiety. When we’re burdened with fear about the future or frustrated by unanswered prayers, laughter feels out of reach. But the Bible calls us to a higher way—to trust in God fully, even when we don’t understand.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)
When we choose to trust instead of worry, our hearts find rest. And in that rest, we find room for joy—the kind that causes us to laugh with freedom, even in the middle of trials.
2. Sarah: From Doubt to Joyful Laughter
A perfect example of how trusting God leads to laughter is found in the story of Sarah.
When God promised that Sarah would bear a son in her old age, she laughed—not in joy, but in disbelief.
“So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, ‘After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?’” — Genesis 18:12 (NIV)
But God did what He said He would do. And when Isaac was born, her laughter changed:
“Sarah said, ‘God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.’” — Genesis 21:6 (NIV)
What changed? God remained faithful to His word—and Sarah learned to trust Him. Her initial laugh of doubt turned into a testimony of joy. This is the kind of laughter that June reminds us to embrace: laughter that springs from the fulfillment of God’s promises in our lives.
3. Job: Laughing Again After Pain
Another powerful picture is found in the life of Job. After losing everything, Job remained faithful, even though he struggled to understand God’s ways. In the end, God restored him.
“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.” — Job 8:21 (NIV)
This verse reminds us that no matter how hard the season we’re in, God is able to restore laughter. When we trust Him through the storms, He promises that joy will come again—often deeper, stronger, and more meaningful than before.
4. Jesus: The Ultimate Source of Our Joy
Trusting God isn’t just about outcomes—it’s about relationship. Jesus invites us into a life of peace and joy that isn’t dependent on circumstances.
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” — John 15:11 (NIV)
When we abide in Him and trust His love, we receive a joy that overflows into laughter—a laughter that the world can’t take away.
Conclusion: Laugh Again—Because God Can Be Trusted
This June, as laughter becomes our theme, remember:
-
Laughter is a gift from God.
-
It flows from a heart that is lightened by trust.
-
It reminds us that God is still working, still faithful, still able.
Make it your prayer this month:
“Lord, teach me to trust You so deeply that joy flows from me effortlessly—joy that brings laughter back into my life, no matter what I face.”
Let this be your declaration in June:
“I will laugh again, because I trust God again”.
